Starting in the martial arts at the age of 13 in 1985. I set two main goals, of becoming a World Champion by the age of 25, and to instruct Martial Arts as a profession. It took me until the age of 28 to become a World Champion, and I have owned and operated a successful martial arts school since 1996.

Learning the value of goal setting, building confidence, developing discipline and respect have been invaluable in my life. My only wish is to help others to accomplish their goals through the benefit of training in the martial arts.

I have been training at Family Martial Arts for over 12 years. Over the years, FMA has become my second family and my second home. Under Matt Perrins’ coaching I won my first World Championship in 2010, and plan on winning more in the future. I am currently at McMaster University studying political science. I am proud to say that FMA has made me a more focused, disciplined and stronger person both inside and outside of the dojo.

1st Degree Black Belt

I have been training in the martial arts since the age of 18 in 2007 but have been a life long fan. I was very excited to start that I have been learning as fast as I can and still am learning as much as I can. I started competing when I was a yellow belt and have gained a wealth of experience in such a short time. I enjoy passing on my knowledge of the arts and plan to continue practicing for a long time to come.

2nd Degree Black Belt

I’ve been a member of Family Martial Arts for 12 years. For the past four years, I’ve been on the Leadership Team and received experience in effectively teaching martial arts. FMA has helped me to become a better person, mentally and physically. This school highly values the importance of goal-setting and respect, something I have learned from greatly. My goal is to motivate others to be the best they can be, and teach them what my instructors taught me. I’m fortunate to have the opportunity to help the other students of Family Martial Arts.

Alessandro PetittiAlessandro Petitti

1st Degree Black Belt

I started karate at Perrins Martial Arts when I was 10 years old. From there my journey has grown immensly. Through martial arts I have learned many valued life skills. These include self control, confidence, goal setting and constant self improvement. I love my sport and I wish to help others find the same love that I have found.

I am currently studying at Cardinal Newman Catholic secondary school. I enjoy many other activities; both athletic and non-athletic, but karate is my number one! My goal is to make class productive, interesting and fun!
